Fly fishing is an angling art patiently perfected over a lifetime on the water, a pursuit the Austin, Texas–based fisherman Dustin Scott, who crafts beautiful wooden-handled dip nets, knows a thing or two about. Let him introduce you to the sport or help you brush up on the basics during a lively conversation in the cottage before venturing out to the water to wet a line—and with any luck, land a fish.
HEART WOOD TRADE
Heart Wood Trade is the creation of Dustin Scott, an outdoor enthusiast who learned the art of fly fishing and woodwork from his late father. With a background in graphic design, he felt the need to create tangible pieces of art to be shared with the outdoor community and pay homage to the tools and traits passed down through his custom landing nets.
Stop by the Artist Cottage between 9AM–11AM Tuesday–Friday to chat with the artist and learn the process of his craft.
When he’s not crafting wooden-handled dip nets by hand or standing knee-deep in a river, Texas maker Dustin Scott spends his time outdoors with a camera slung around his neck. During this workshop, learn about the techniques, technology, and equipment used to capture and compose the perfect nature photo before venturing out onto the Palmetto Bluff grounds to put your newfound skills to the test.
